Dear Friends, The ski season is near and the Village is busy with signs of Vail’s New Dawn. Various old buildings in Vail and Lionshead have been torn down in order to make way for new developments. Here is a synopsis of what has happened and what will be coming to Vail and Lionshead. LIONSHEAD
The old gondola building in Lionshead has now disappeared to make way for the Arrabelle. The building is nearing completion and the excitement is growing.
Out of all the Arrabelle condominiums that were put under contract so quickly last year, there are a few back on the market.
Forest Place, a gated enclave of 4 single family custom homes located on the old tennis court site, is now nearing completion as well. The location is possibly the best ski in and out for a single family home in Vail - it is just off Born Free and Simba ski runs west and south of the new Skiers’ Bridge. The homes are up to 12,000 Sq ft and they are sold out.
The Ritz Carlton has now broken ground in the west Day lot site to the west of the Marriott in Lionshead. They are planning 125 condominiums of approximately 1200-1600 sq feet with underground parking and amenities including a heated pool etc. Sales are strong and delivery is scheduled for 36 months from now. Vail Resorts is planning a new base chairlift from this area that will span across West Forest Road.
VAIL - The Front Door
The Lodge at Vail Chalets will consist of 13 ski in and out residences directly off Bear Tree ski run just west of the Vista Bahn Express. The residences will be about 4,000 sq ft with generous views to the Gore Range and immediate access to the Vista Bahn. The construction has begun and the project is completely sold.
The Vista Bahn Plaza will sit at the current location of the Vail ski school and will give 2,000 sq ft of facilities for skier services.
The Vail Alpine Club will be a 500 member club with activities and social events, first class slope side facilities and amenities, lounge and bar, concierge, valet ski storage and access to the new Spa at the Lodge at Vail. The Lodge at Vail Hotel and Spa will offer a new 11,000 ft luxury spa, fitness area and retail area. Boasting an outdoor heated pool and hot relaxation pool, it will be the first luxury slope side amenity. The Lodge at Vail will also be adding two elegant hotel suites.
The old Holiday Inn west of the main roundabout at the entrance of Vail has been leveled along with the historic gas station that used to be next to it. Construction on the new Four Seasons has begun. I invite you to visit the Bridge Street office to take a look at the beautiful model of this project.
The Four Seasons will be a mixture of over 100 hotel rooms and 2 floors of condominiums ranging from 1-5 bedrooms. 13 of 16 condominiums were available for purchase between $3 and 15 million and will vary in size from 1600-5875 sq ft. Only a few of the condos remain. Fractional ownership properties will also be available. The hotel will offer all the amenities of an elegant Four Season hotel with its own ski storage in the village and complimentary transportation. Delivery is anticipated in 33-36 months.
Our town is going through some exciting renewal and renovation at this time and I thought it would be fun to keep you updated on the progress as the new Vail takes shape.
